Kappa Alpha Theta is known as the "first Greek-letter fraternity known among women." (That's because the word "sorority" had yet to be coined.) Since its founding in 1870, Theta has grown to become an international organization dedicated to the advancement of its members through social, intellectual, and moral growth. Here on Hanover's campus, Theta does this by promoting a wide variety of scholarship activities. These include class competitions, access to test files, and a strong sense of fraternity when it comes to "helping a sister out" with her studies. Also, Theta awards nearly $300,000 a year in scholarship money to its members nationally.

Socially, Theta promotes growth by sponsoring events such as Rock the CASA, Bowling with Babes, a semi-formal at Christmas and the annual Twin Stars Formal in the Spring. These events are meant to promote friendship and unity among the members of Theta. Hanover Thetas can be seen all over campus, involved in activities such as intercollegiate sports (as well as intramural sports), Mortar Board, Communications Club, and Student Programming Board (SPB). Also, Thetas hold positions as Resident Assistants, Peer Advisors, and Ambassadors for the Admission Office. Some notable Thetas include Sheryl Crow, Kerri Strug, Julie Moran, Marlo Thomas, and both Laura Bush and Lynne Cheney.

Another aspect of Theta is philanthropy. Theta's national philanthropy is CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), and many of the activities throughout the year are done to raise money for the organization. Theta's at Hanover also support events such as Bowl for Kids Sake, Relay for Life, raising money for cystic fibrosis, and Habitat for Humanity. Thetas are very active among the campus and support a wide range of philanthropic activities.
