Welcome to Counseling Services! Our Mission: Hanover College Counseling Services recognizes the changes that can accompany being in college may lead to personal problems, interpersonal difficulties, and emotional and psychological distress. Counseling Services mission is to encourage, support, and assist students in their academic, personal, and career pursuits by providing a broad range of psychological counseling and educational services to deal with these challenges. We support the academic goals of the College through consultation with faculty, staff and campus organizations and aim to provide the opportunity to foster this development to a culturally, socially, economically, religiously, and racially diverse student body. Counseling Services is free and confidential to all currently enrolled Hanover College students.

Our Staff
David is in his third year at Hanover College. Previously, he worked for Christopher and Associates, a group mental health practice in Seymour, Indiana, where he provided comprehensive clinical services for four years. David earned his bachelor's of science degree in Psychology and Human Development from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and his master's of arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. David completed his doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from Indiana University, with research interest in counselor creativity. While attending Indiana University, David trained one year in their student Counseling and Psychological Services. He also completed his pre-doctoral internship at the University of Missouri-Columbia Counseling Center. David is trained as a generalist and is prepared to work with most student issues.
Katie is a licensed clinical psychologist. She received her B.A. from Bowling Green University in Psychology and a Psy.D. from Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. She came to Hanover in 2001 after working for University Psychiatric Services, Department of Psychiatry (University of Cincinnati); Hyde Park Psychological Services (Cincinnati, OH), and Quinco Consulting Associates (Madison, IN). Katie formerly specialized in child and family therapy. At Hanover, Katie specializes in working with sexual abuse, sexual assault, grief, first-generation students and eating disorders. She enjoys helping students navigate their current life challenges and has a particular interest in incorporating the arts, movement and play into therapy to facilitate personal growth. She obtained her Level 1 Certification in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy in May 2009. This body-oriented therapy assists clients who have gone through trauma to process it on a physiological level as well as emotional and cognitive levels. [Katie is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy.] Her professional interests include narrative therapy, internal family systems, trauma theory and utilizing the whole person—body, mind and spirit in therapy. Research interests include scholarly understandings of the importance of play, human development throughout the lifespan, and Waldorf education.
Linda has been with Hanover College for nine years and is now in her fourth year with Counseling Services. Previously, she worked as an administrative assistant for five years with Ivy Tech. Linda is responsible for arranging appointments, managing client files, maintaining database, and assisting with various administrative projects.
