Hanover College Reported Crimes:
Hanover College publishes and distributes this report or the notice of the existence of this report
on a yearly basis to faculty, staff, students, prospective students, and prospective employees.
Statistics are gathered from crimes reported to the Hanover College Campus Security Office. In
addition, crimes that are reported to those persons in the campus community with roles of
responsibility towards students (this excludes those in the counseling or medical field) and is
reported to the author of this report. This document is published and distributed to accomplish
compliance to the Clery Act and the 1998 amendments to the Act.

Reported Crimes: Hanover College

Crimes reported that occurred in the residence halls are included in the “Campus” crime column.

Caveat:
* Of the 21 reported incidences, two were reported to Campus Security by the alleged victim while
the other 19 were reported to Campus Security by a single third-party reporter to whom some of the
reported incidences were themselves second-hand and unverified. Due to the manner of reporting of
these 19 incidents and the period during which the incidences were alleged to have occurred (over a
four year period), Campus Security was unable to verify (a) the accuracy of or the circumstances
surrounding the alledged incidences; (b) whether any of the incidences were duplicate reports of
previously reported and documented events; and (c) precisely how many alleged incidencies occurred
during any given reporting period. Nevertheless, because of the requirements of the Clery Act the
College felt that the most transparent and forthright course of action was to report these alleged
incidences along with this note of clarification.


The following hate offenses manifest evidence of prejudice based on race, religion, sexual orientation,
gender, disability or ethnicity/national origin.

Reported Crimes: Involving bodily injury that manifest evidence that the victim was intentionally selected
because of the victim’s actual or perceived race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity or disability.
